Why my paintings sell

When you combine the sublime power of the figure and allow its soul to echo into the landscape - it nourishes the soul of the viewer.

The beach and coastal rock pools are a superb forum - or stage - to really allow that to resonate in all its glory.

When you capture that with all its subtlety - it allows the artist to come closer to a sense of creation.

Below are examples of my work with the full spectrum of colour; celebrating nature and the figure.

Investment of a giclee

"Giclee" - a hand embellished reproduction on canvas

As an artist I am turning my major works into giclees - a reproduction on canvas and then embellishing those reproductions by hand until the reproduction is as unique as the original artwork.

The investor/purchaser receives a hand written confirmation signed by the artist confirming the giclees authenticity.

About Patrick Russell

Patrick is 50 years of age, and when he was 15 years old he left the Kings School to study for four years at the Julian Ashton Art School.

He then spent three years painting 'On-Site' in the bush at places like Mudgee, Capertee and Sofala.

The next 12 years were spent painting his favourite place, Balmoral, on-site, as well as many rock pools and beaches of Sydney.

Patrick has had 10 major Solo Exhibitions (with every canvas from those exhibitions being sold).

"Painting and composing with the figure and landscape all of my life - the inspiration is endless - from movement, form, colour - and the light. Whether it be a model swimming and relaxing with abandon amidst the splendour of a coastal rock pool - or reclining in the artist's garden or studio, I experience a sense of awe."

To borrow a quote - "Nature is inexhaustible - life is wonderful."

His views of Sydney Harbour and beaches, Mosman Bay and Balmoral Beach bring the light and movement of the water and sunlight to life, and his beautiful country scenes reflect the tranquility we all enjoy.

A recent painting trip to Paris and Claude Monet's Water Garden at Giverny has also led to major works.
